Local Greenie is a guide to organizations in your area and how they're contributing to a better world.

How do I know someone listed on Local Greenie is green?

Our motto is 'Learn, Decide, Support.' We encourage contributing organizations to include as much information as possible so that readers can make decisions based on their own values. We feel this is an advantage over one-size-fits-all certifications and puts the power to decide in your hands.

What is 'local online'?

Local Greenie is organized by area to encourage users to shop locally. 'Local online' is a new way of looking at using the Internet. Online shopping is convenient and can help you find unique businesses, but it ignores the environmental impact of transporting goods over long distances. 'Local online' combines the convenience of the Internet with the desire to use community resources. Consumers shopping in the local area are reducing the environmental impact of their purchases and investing in their community.

How do I make a profile for my organization?

Click here! Making a profile takes about as long as creating a Facebook page.

Can I list my etsy shop or website?

Yes! To have a listing you need to be locally based within an area, but you do not need to have a storefront.

How does something get posted to the front page?

Anyone can submit articles to be listed under "What's New." We accept submissions from both the general public and organizations, covering such topics as upcoming events, green conventions, farmer's markets, etc. If something green or socially responsible is happening near you, let us know.

How is the site funded?

Local Greenie is funded by advertising. Profiles are completely free to create and view. We donate 10% of proceeds to area charities that help those in need. Please consider making a contribution to the local charity listed at the bottom of your Local Greenie page.
